Gonçalo Mabunda is a mozambican visual artist and anti-war activist, born on 1975 in Maputo. His work entails the transformation of deconstructed weapons such as, kalashnikovs, rockets, pistols, and shell casing into pieces of art. Gonçalo Mabunda has participated in many exhibitions all over the world, including important museums such as the Center Pompidou in Paris, the Venice Biennale, the Museum of Art and Design in New York, Norway Army Museum, and many more.
Mabunda's work promotes a message of how further violence can be prevented, and how can the destruction of war weapons can be done in such an aesthetic and artistic way.
